Nicknamed ‘Einosui’ (short for Enoshima Suizokkan), this aquarium has been delighting visitors for over 60 years. Reopened in 2004 after extensive renovations and renamed the ‘New Enoshima Aquarium’, it now centers on the concept of ‘an exciting and suspenseful aquarium adventure’. In addition to its exhibitions of various sea creatures, visitors keep coming back for this aquarium’s creative and elaborately-planned events.

Witness the connection between human and animal at the dolphin show
At the Dolphin Show Stadium, dolphin and trainer perform perfectly synchronized shows that allow for plenty of dolphin discovery time. One show, ‘Dolferia’, is like a musical! Those who see it will find the story truly heartwarming. On days when the weather is fine you can look out over the show to views of the magnificent Sagami Bay, Enoshima, and even Mt. Fuji!
When it comes to jellyfish, ‘Enosui’ has it covered!
The New Enoshima Aquarium has an exhibition dedicated to jellyfish, titled the ‘Jellyfish Fantasy Hall’. Here you can see the world’s largest jellyfish, the Sea Nettle, and more than 10 other varieties of jellyfish in a wondrous atmosphere. There is also the ‘Jellyfish Science’ research corner, famous in research circles, where around 30 varieties of jellyfish are bred. You can observe the feeding of the jellyfish and hear a commentary by the staff, so you might leave having found out some things about jellyfish you never knew before!
This aquarium has a variety of jellyfish-themed items for sale, including ‘Jelly Soft’ (soft-serve ice cream made with jellyfish), ‘Jelly Curry’ (jellyfish curry) and ‘Jelly Bread’ (bread made into cute jellyfish shapes).
A fascinating exhibition of Whitefish, an Enoshima Specialty
This aquarium is advancing research into the whitefish, a local specialty, holding the record for the world’s first breeding of whitefish in captivity. In the ‘Sagami Bay Zone’ you can find explanations to some ecological mysteries surrounding whitefish, as well as observe whitefish being born!

‘Seeing it during the day isn’t enough!’ If this is you, we recommend a night tour or a sleepover. These are held irregularly, so check the website and make a reservation in advance. Various groups can participate, from parents and kids to groups of friends and couples.
