The ‘Wild Kingdom’ is a perfect description for this adventure-style park full of animals and sea creatures. It is located in the Shirahama hot spring area of Wakayama Prefecture with an airport nearby, making access much more convenient than in the old days. This park is world famous its giant pandas, but they are also building a reputation for their dolphin performances! The aquarium here is very large and there are a great number of creatures, so one day will not be enough to see it all. Better to stay overnight at a hot spring hotel in Shirahama and make a trip of it!

Watch dolphins enjoying themselves in the ‘Big Ocean’ show
The ‘Big Ocean’ stage has the sea of Shirahama as a backdrop. Here, bottlenose dolphin, pacific white-sided dolphin, and false killer whale follow the trainer’s commands to give a magnificent show. The false killer whale might be a dolphin but he has the silhouette of a whale, and his speed and swimming style leave a different impression to that of the bottlenose and white-sided dolphin!
Truly incredible! Emperor penguins born one after the other
There are 18 different varieties of penguin in the world, and here you can find eight of them. The largest of these is the emperor penguin, and the first baby emperor penguin to be born in Japan was born here at Adventure World! You can see some adorable baby penguins if your timing is good. Adventure World is also home to sea lions, seals and otters. Few aquariums house sea otters, so be sure to take the chance to see one here.
You can have your wedding here!
Adventure World offers a variety of events and attractions, and also hosts weddings and wedding parties. They collaborate with a French restaurant in Osaka and apparently it makes for a great time for both humans and animals! You can also take a photo with your favorite dolphins.
