Hakkejima Sea Paradise is one of Japan’s largest aquariums, housing 700 varieties or 120,000 individual living creatures. The park is divided into four zones; Aqua Museum (home of the seal show), Dolphin Fantasy, Sea Farm and Touch Lagoon.

View the dance-like movements of the dolphins in an arched tank
The arched tank in the Dolphin Fantasy is created to give the impression that the visitor is taking a walk along the ocean floor. When the weather is fine rays of light stream into the tank and further illuminate the Bottling Dolphin swimming above. The dolphin is joined here by blue green damselfishes, Yellowstriped butterfishes and more to create the atmosphere of a warm southern ocean.
Learn about the sea and life at the Sea Farm
In the Sea Farm zone the focus is on education, allowing the visitor to experience the sea environment up close while also learning about its importance. In the ‘Eat’ section, you can catch, cook and eat your own fish. Catching your own fish is fun, but in cooking and eating it visitors also learn about the life of the fish itself. A lot of work goes into this section of Hakkejima Sea Paradise, not just in the explanations of the staff but in the details such as the seaweed and plankton. They even hold events in which you can learn about seaweed and plankton.
Experience the warmth and importance of life in the Touch Lagoon
In this zone, visitors can touch Bando Dolphin, White Dolphin, Cotsumekawauso and many more creatures that you don’t normally find in petting zones. One special program allows visitors to *touch the forehead of the white dolphin. They say that the forehead of the white dolphin is softer than that of any other variety of dolphin. So, what does it feel like? And, why is it so soft? Taking part in this program seems like it would really deepen your understanding of white dolphin, doesn’t it?
