Opened in 1983, the Asamushi Aquarium has a very home-ey aesthetic. There are several different species such as the otter, dolphin, penguin and more on exhibit and in shows, making it a fun place to be!

At this aquarium, the program menu changes every day! You can take part in programs to experience what it’s like to be a dolphin trainer, give a dolphin a handshake, watch how they train, etc. With some one on one time with the trainers, you’ll get to ask every question that you have about them! Other events include “Sea Monster Backyard Tours”, “The Backstage Pass for Aquarists”, “The inner workings of the facility”, and more! Try one to see a different side of the aquarium!
Take a walk in the ocean through the “Tunnel Tanks”
In a 15 meter long tank that has a tunnel in the middle, you will be able to see all kinds of fish swim along around and above you. The exhibit is limited to creatures that only live in within the waters of Mutsu Bay, such as the mackerel, scallops, and ascidians.
A World Heritage Fish?!
In the exhibit “The World Heritage Shirakami Fish”, fish that live on the lands of Shirakami in Aomori are presented. On the upstream is where the chars and salmon reside, the downstream for the koi. There is also a replica of wild birds also displayed, making the exhibit look like a moment in time at the world heritage site.
A great tourist spot for all
There is a great deal of nature in the area including Shirakami Sanchi and Asamushi Hot Springs. There are several places to enjoy both a full and foot bath, providing a relaxing time for those who want to take a quick swing around the area!
