Aquamarine Inawashiro Kingfishers Aquarium is a freshwater fish aquarium that is closely based off of Inawashiro Area’s local environment and replicates the habitats in their exhibits. Renovated from the previous “Inawashiro Freshwater Fish Aquarium”, the freshly new aquarium offers some upgraded features.

A Mini Mount Bandai and Inawashiro!
Did you know that salmon teeth are in fact sharp? Take a look at them at the exciting “Japanese island salmon and trout show window” exhibit, which showcases not only their journeys in the freshwaters but also their long one in the ocean waters. Some of the other that are worth looking at include the smaller ones such as the “rare Fukushima species” and “Invasive Species” tanks, which also bring attention to environmental issues as well. In the cubicle exhibits, more freshwater fish await you in their exclusive spots to shine individually. There is also a partnership exhibit that we have made in collaboration with our sister aquarium “Niigata Aquarium Marine Pier” called the “Appealing Journey of Banetsu Expressway”. Unique species such as the Japanese spider crab are on exhibit.

At Aquamarine Inawashiro Kingfishers Aquarium, there are several different programs for visitors to partake in to see some of these creatures such as feeding time for Eurasian otters, where you can see them much closer than you can through a window. Visitors can also “fish” for free with your admission(or 300 yen for just the fishing). You can even have your catch prepared on the spot to enjoy a quick meal!

There is a craft space where you can make your own tote bag, with many different water and fish themed patterns available. A popular option is to make your own tote bag then visit the souvenir shop!
