Nifrel iis a new type of aquarium located in Expo Commemoration Park in Osaka. Here, visitors are surrounded by animals yet close enough as so to be able to hear the differences in the way they breathe. The animals here are exhibited like treasures, and visitors will be enveloped in a series of discoveries as they explore this new facility.

Seven ways to engage
Nifrel is a bright, colorful aquarium made up of seven zones. As you progress from the first to the second floor through the different zones, the lighting, commentary boards, and aquarium lighting changes to create different a different atmosphere depending on your location in the museum. Nifrel is an aquarium, but in addition to the aquatic organisms there are also a variety of mammals and birds to see here including the white tiger and burrowing owl. It is an environment that allows you to carefully observe the shape, movement and breathing of each creature.
Wait for animals to approach the ‘movement zone’
Lemur and burrowing owl move about freely in the ‘Movement Zone’. If you walk slowly and softly, as if you are the visitor in their environment, they will sometimes come very close to you! There is also an exhibition of penguins located at eye level, allowing you to observe the details of their sharp beaks. What are the differences between an otter and a beaver? Typically, such differences are difficult to observe, but here you are able to view each one closely and make lots of new discoveries.

The souvenir shop ‘Nifrel × Nifrel’ contains many original products and is always full of customers. Be sure to check out the wide assortment of stationery. They have everything from cute, character-filled stationery for children to simple but cheerful designs that animal lovers could even use in the office.
