Busena Marine Park (Okinawa) – Access, Hours & Fees

The Busena Marine Park is located in the village of Onna, Okinawa, in an area lined with beach resort hotels. As soon as you park your car you will be able to see sandy white beaches and the sparkling emerald sea of Okinawa. Most people are taken aback by the beauty of this park the first time they enter. It really looks like a foreign beach, so some people just stand there mesmerized, some take a photograph and others get really excited. The underwater observation tower is a perfect place for families with young children. If you can, try to go to Busena Marine Park on a day when the weather is fine and the water is calm.

Take a tour of the beautiful sea in a glass-bottomed boat

You can travel out to the underwater observatory in a glass-bottomed boat. Look into the transparent waters and see many fish and different corals while feeling the gentle waves and the ocean breeze. You can even see whales from the boat! This is a great way to experience this subtropical sea.

What will you see from the underwater observatory?

From the entrance of the underwater observatory, you descend a spiral staircase to reach the bottom of the sea, about five meters deep. The world of the sea spreads before your eyes. If you peek through the portholes installed along the walls, you will see many beautiful fish as they pass before your eyes, and maybe even an orange-colored clownfish. From the glass-bottomed boat you can see the clownfish from above, but down here you are viewing them from the side so can make eye contact and see the different expressions on their faces. The fish will come right up to the windows, giving you the feeling that you have made a new friend. You won’t want to move away! The underwater observatory can only hold 24 people at a time, so you may need to wait for a little while. While you wait, you can buy fish food from a vending machine and feed the fish. It is lovely to watch the tiny mouths of the tropical fish as they gather on the surface to eat the food.
